The exhibition Transit by Mark Braun is an installation of six elements exploring migration and nomadism, particularly relevant to Saarland. Its core objects are stackable crates, inspired by historical fire crates used to protect valuables.
Made of plywood and marked with coded information, the crates tell personal stories—both voluntary and forced migration. Room-dividing curtains with light-shadow motifs evoke transitional spaces like train stations or airports.
AI-generated stories inside the crates critically examine how algorithms shape narratives, reflecting biases and power structures. The AI prompts are displayed on posters, while trilingual audio recordings enhance the transient atmosphere.
Transit invites reflection on migration as an ongoing process—between movement and stillness, borders and transitions.
